North Carolina Local User Group (NCLUG) Summer Training

July 26th – July 28th 2016

Mark Stefanchuk will present the following sessions:

VBA: Management and Design

Learn a little VBA. In addition to the basic how-to get started instructions, the session will follow two paths. First, we will build a VBA to modify elements and then apply it to multiple files using the batch concepts. Along the way we will investigate some project close out scenarios. And, if time permits, we will look at implementing placement and modify commands.

Here are the notes and lab files. But hey! No need to download these if you already have the FLUG notes. They are the same – just different dates and headings.

Spring FLUG Training Event

June 29th – July 1st 2016, Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront Hotel, FL

Come join us at this year’s Spring FLUG! We look forward to seeing everyone again this year. Agenda and details at FLUGSite.

Mark Stefanchuk will present the following sessions:

VBA: Management and Design [Hands-on]

Roll-up your sleeves and get to work creating your own VBA in this hands on session. In addition to the basic how-to get started instructions, the session will follow two paths. First, you will build a VBA to modify elements and then apply it to multiple files using the batch concepts. Along the way we will investigate some project close out scenarios. And second, you will develop a VBA to place an element – learn how to initiate a command and then manage the user interaction as the command runs.

Here are the notes and dataset from the workshop.

Geo-Tagging – Capturing Data for Your Designs with A Snapshot

With your smart phone, or GPS enabled camera you can capture asset data with a click. Whether it’s street sign inventory, a trip hazard document covering miles of sidewalks, or an  environmental study we can show you how to get the information from your photograph into your CAD file. With geo-tagging and location services we turn your mobile device into a gold-mine of information.

Here are the slides from the session.

Fall FLUG Training Event

November 4-6, 2015 Tampa, FL

Mark Stefanchuk presented the following sessions:

VBA! MicroStation v. AutoCAD

August 5, 2015, 1-2pm: Have you written or recorded a VBA macro for MicroStation, for AutoCAD? Have you always wanted to automate a drawing process, or maybe a project close out process? Or have you needed to change/update a cell element in hundreds of cad files, but weren’t sure how to get started? In this class I will introduce you to design automation via VBA, show you how to get started, and provide examples that you can use to create your own applications.

Geo-Tagging – Capturing Data for Your Designs with A Snapshot

With your smart phone, or gps enabled camera you can capture a ton of information. You might need to inventory street signs, document trip hazards in miles of sidewalks, or capture any number of existing conditions. With geo- tagging and location services we can turn a mobile device into a gold-mine of information. And best of all, we can automatically import the data into our drawings.

We had a great week in Overland Park, KS! Thanks to the volunteers who make this event a great success. Here are Mark’s session notes.
I forgot to include the variables we discussed during the session but I added a blog posts. You can find it here – VBA Search Directories.
